Suggested Books for Hair Growth Tips

Grow It by Chicoro
Several of Chicoro’s hair growth tips helped me reach my goal length. I consider her one of my natural hair “idols”.

Grow It is full of helpful information on natural hair care and how to grow hair of any type and texture.  I was following Chicoro online before she wrote the book and learned a great deal from her.  Grow It is a quick and easy read but that is because her tips are simple and to the point. The only critique I have is that it would have been nice to have more pictures of her beautiful hair featured however this probably would have raised the cost of the book.  It is very reasonably priced under $15.

Let’s Talk Hair by Pamela Ferrell

This was the first book I read on natural hair care and it is one of my favorites.  It if full of tips to grow and care for natural hair. I recommend this book particularly for new naturals who are interested in protective styling.  She gives great instructions on twist and braided styles.  Let’s Talk Hair also include tips on how to use various oils and tools to promote hair growth. This book is very hard to find now and you will probably have to buy it used or check it out from your local library.

Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey

Curly Girl is a quick and interesting read on how to care for curly hair.  This book introduced me to the idea of cowashing and changed my views on the necessity of constant shampooing. I recommend Curly Girl in particular for ladies with type 3 hair who plan to wear their hair in wash and go and loose styles frequently.  This book does NOT focus on providing tips for hair growth but is a good general hair care guide. It is also available in an enhanced Ebook form.

Hairveda Moist Condition 24.7 Product Review

I use this conditioner very frequently on my natural hair when I was growing it out.  It is natural and is free of mineral oil, parabens, or silicones.  The only reason I give it 4/5 stars is because it does not really help much with detangling and I do […]
